Nuit Blanche in Review ( May 2015 )

What happened since the Nuit Blanche in Review ( April 2015 ), for one, New Horizons is getting closer to planet Pluto (yes, it's my blog, I can call whatever body in the solar system a planet). I started a Facebook page for Nuit blanche. We also had 12 implementations made available by their respective authors. Nuit Blanche reached 4 million page views, saw the great convergence in action, wondered the next steps after commodity sequencing and contemplated some blue skies, hoped that compressive sensing solved one of the most important problem of our times, got some feedback from readers, had an interesting machine learning meetup in Paris, and saw compressive sensing at work. We also had some in-depth studies, job offers, a book announcement and some videos.

Implementations:

  1. Four million page views: a million here, a million there and soon enough we're talking real readership...
  2. The Great Convergence: Deep Learning, Compressive Sensing, Advanced Matrix Factorization
  3. The Great Convergence: FlowNet: Learning Optical Flow with Convolutional Networks
  4. Hamming's time: The Important Things after Commodity Sequencing
  5. Blue Skies: Foundational principles for large scale inference, Stochastic Simulation and Optimization Methods in Signal Processing, Streaming and Online Data Mining , Kernel Models and more.
  6. On Uncertainty Quantification of Lithium-ion Batteries
  7. Reader's Digest: Gaussian vs Structured Projections, Improving A2I implementations, Kaczmarz method, Xampling the Future
  8. Low-Cost Compressive Sensing for Color Video and Depth
  9. Tonight! Paris Machine Learning Meetup #9, Season 2: ML @Quora and @Airbus and in HFT, Tax, APIs war
  10. Compressive Sensing at work: Three-dimensional coordinates of individual atoms in materials, Measurement of a 16.8 Million-Dimensional Entangled Probability Distribution, WiFi Fingerprinting in Indoor Environment, Airborne gravimetry data reconstruction
